This handcrafted tamarack bird features an open-wing standing design, setting it apart from more traditional folded-wing or no-wing styles. Carefully shaped by hand using tightly woven tamarack twigs, it captures a bird in motion—wings lifted in a moment of balance and presence. Mounted on a natural birch-round base, the piece brings together movement, form, and Cree craftsmanship. Tamarack birds have long been made by Cree and other northern Indigenous peoples. Traditionally used as hunting decoys, they were crafted from natural materials to blend into the land. Today, they continue as cultural artworks that reflect connection to the territory, lived knowledge, and the skill of the maker. Each piece is handmade, with slight variations that make every sculpture one of a kind.
